Third graders enjoyed learning about coding during the Hour of Code on Friday, December 11, 2015. They used the app called "Tynker." They can continue to move through the stages on this app and learn useful skills in coding. Enjoy the video of this fun time.
We had a fun time on Friday, December 18, 2015! We enjoyed our very own Wayne Center band playing holiday songs in the hall right outside our classroom. We sat in the hall to hear better. We also received a gift, enjoyed opening it, and showing it to our friends. Then, we ate a treat at our desks. Next, we got to read around the room by ourselves or with a friend. Finally, we worked on a paper where we glued the names of the reindeer in alphabetical order. Enjoy the video of our fun day!!!
On Friday, January 22, 2016, Wayne Center held a convocation with the reminder that...
After high school......
Yes, our goal is to encourage all students to reach beyond high school to a trade, fine arts, or other additional learning.
To bring this about Mr. Jamie Foster was our guest speaker. He is a graduate of IU from IPFW earning a music education major. He is also an avid performer in the public arena. He shared his journey of dedication and hard work to reach a place that you can enjoy what you do every day.
Our class with Mr. Foster!
Wayne Center Tigers were ENCOURAGED to keep doing their best in their studies!!!
Before we published our How To writings, Miss T, our tech coach, came in our room and led a lesson on "how to" use Google Slides. Students enjoyed using their slides they had sketched and designed on paper to complete their final project.
Soooo, one day...a long time ago...probably in December...we were in the middle of Math class when the problem talked about the perimeter of a square that was 5 meters on each side. As I looked at blank faces, I asked, "How long is 5 meters?"
I heard many amusing responses but thought, they don't know because they can't imagine it. So, I asked for volunteers. Wow, did they respond!!!
Five volunteers held 5 meter sticks end to end to see how long it would be. Here is our picture to remind us.
Most students were very surprised to see that 5 meters was that big of a distance!!!
Finding a way to get this video onto our blog, was quite a challenge.
The class has been waiting for it for a long time.
What was happening?
Money was collected to help a local family before Christmas.
The way the money was collected was by putting it in jars which indicated a certain staff member who was willing to take a "pie in the face" if their jar had the highest amount of change. Dollar bills deducted from the total.
It was fun!
Nathan's mom had the most money! He recorded this on his iPad. He was very excited as was everyone that day.
Enjoy....THE PIE IN THE FACE!!!
Okay, so here is a practice of posting a connection for you to view some really cool Google Slide Presentations made by third graders. The first one was made by Natalie. She loves horses. If this works, I'll post more. Keep checking back...
